Eid al-Adha

Eid al-Adha is the Islamic holiday. On this day commemorated the sacrifice of events, that is when the Prophet Ibrahim (Abraham), who are willing to sacrifice his son Ishmael to God, to sacrifice his son Ismail, was replaced by him with the sheep.

On this holiday, Muslims gather in the morning and perform Eid prayers together on the field, such as when to celebrate Eid. After the prayer, slaughtering sacrifices made, to commemorate God's command to Prophet Ibrahim to slaughter a sheep instead of his son.

Eid al-Adha falls on the 10th month of Dhu al-Hijjah, the day falls exactly 70 days after the Idul Fitri celebration. This day and the days of fasting Tasyrik forbidden for Muslims.

This month is a historic month for Muslims. The reason, in this month the Muslims from various parts of the world perform the fifth pillar of Islam. Hajj is a religious ritual which teaches equality among equals. With it, Islam was a religion which knows no social status. Rich, poor, officials, people, black or white all wearing the same clothes. Along with doing the same activity that is Manasik pilgrimage.

On the day of Eid al-Adha, the Muslim community who are able are encouraged to slaughtering sacrificial animals. Basically, this sacrificial slaughter of animals contain two values of devotional rituals and social piety. Ritual piety means to sacrifice, we have carried out the orders of God which is transedental. Sacrifice is said to be social piety because besides being a religious ritual, the sacrifice also has a human dimension.

This form of human solidarity is clearly manifested in the distribution of sacrificial meat. Commands that can sacrifice for this to show that Islam is a religion of respect for the poor and the other dhu'afa. With disyari'atkannya sacrifice, the Moslems were trained to strengthen a sense of humanity, sharpening sensitivity to social problems, teach mutual love for others.

Although the time of slaughtering the sacrificial limited (10-13 Dhu al-Hijjah), but do not understand that Islam is limiting humanitarian solidarity. We must be able to grasp the essential meaning of the message text, not to understand the text literally. Therefore, the spirit to continue to 'sacrifice' we always perpetuate the post-Idul Adha.
